Stranger Than Fiction

I saw Stranger Than Fiction last night and enjoyed the humorous exploration of freewill and the attention to visual detail. Kudos to the casting director for having Dustin Hoffman play the professor asking Will Ferrell if he was counting the number of steps and floor tiles—Rainman knows his toothpicks and telephone numbers. I’ll save my thoughts about the IRS for another post. The plot was a lot of fun and the visuals were such a part of the whole, not an add-on garnish. The last movie I remember that made good use of interspersed graphics was Fightclub. I want to be MK12 when I grow up. They did the graphic overlays that illustrated the numbers in Harold Crick’s head and the incredible closing credits sequence. I want to learn motion graphics so bad but have a long way to go with stationary ones.
